Grinding equipment providing precision particle size reduction

Using the latest technological advances in grinding equipment, MPE's Gran-U-Lizers™ produces uniform particle sizes with a minimal generation of "fines" for thousands of applications. By serving the needs of grinding equipment customers around the world, MPE has earned their reputation as the people count on them to maximize yields for a wide range of food, chemical and mineral products.

Gran-U-Lizer™ optimizes yields and reduces fines by up to 70%

MPE's Gran-U-Lizer is a totally new and better approach to grinding equipment design and construction. In thousands of installations, MPE Gran-U-Lizer™ grinding equipment has demonstrated the ability to improve product yields, often by as much as 200-300% more than other methods, such as hammermills, FitzMills® and attrition mills. Here's why:

Grinding Equipment - Model 1052 Series Gran-U-Lizer
  • • The MPE Gran-U-Lizer™ grinding equipment product passes between a series of precisely-machined roller pairs with an adjustable gap between them.

  • • After passing through, the ground material falls into the next set of rollers.

  • • The total number of rollers on our unique grinding equipment depends on the material properties and degree of particle size reduction required. Typically, the number of roll sections varies from one to four pairs.

  • • As the material falls between the "nip" point of each roll section, it is crushed into progressively smaller particles. Uniform, ground particles are then gravity discharged from the bottom of the roller mill.

MPE Gran-U-Lizers offer many advantages

  • • The Gran-U-Lizer design is non-attrition (unlike hammermills, FitzMills®, attrition mills, etc.), thereby minimizing the generation of fines in the production process.

  • • The low friction principle of operation results in minimal temperature elevation; consequently, energy and power requirements are minimized.

  • • Precision-engineered roll designs and construction of our equipment provide the optimum reduction on each stage, or pair, of rollers, which can be either single or multiple -- up to six stages.

  • • The Gran-U-Lizer design is configured for each particle size reduction application. By optimizing roll surface textures, speeds and gap settings, the Gran-U-Lizer carefully controls the "explosion" that occurs in the "cracking", or "fracturing", of the product.

  • • MPE Gran-U-Lizers achieve a narrow, sharp particle size distribution, which is typically the most important factor in the size reduction process. A narrow distribution results in fewer unwanted fines, which produces less product waste, greater yields and increased efficiencies. New, enhanced product application possibilities can also be created through the use of the Gran-U-Lizer.

Model 777 Gran-U-Lizer

MPE Gran-U-Lizers serve many diverse particle size reduction applications, from cookies to carbon. But is the Gran-U-Lizer™ right for you? Please review the guidelines below and then find out more!

  • • The MPE Gran-U-Lizer works best on materials that are friable. (A friable material will crack or break apart under pressure rather than smash flat.)

  • • MPE Gran-U-Lizers work best at reducing particles to the 4-150 mesh range. We do have many successful applications for products smaller than this range, such as activated carbon at 80x325 mesh; however, as a general rule, the target particle size should be in the 4-150 mesh range.

  • • MPE Gran-U-Lizers are ideal for producing a tight particle size distribution. If minimizing the number of very small particles (fines) or obtaining a tight particle size distribution is important to you, an MPE Gran-U-Lizer is the perfect solution.
